Hi there, I’m Gavin, and I’m truly grateful to be a part of Boards of Kettering.
Games have always held a special place in my heart, and I understand that for many of us, it’s not just about winning. It’s about the joy of participating, building connections, and sharing experiences with others.
I believe that gaming can be a warm and welcoming way to communicate and bond, and I’m passionate about creating those moments for everyone.
I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you!
I’ve always found great joy in sharing experiences with others, whether it was my journey as a chef or my work in the care industry, supporting both adults and children with additional needs.
Giving back to the community has always been important to me, and being part of a group where we uplift one another feels truly fulfilling. I’ve loved participating in amateur dramatics and engaging in various charity events, including some unique challenges like walking on fire.
Trying new things has always been an integral part of who I am, but finding my passion for board games has been particularly meaningful. The joy I feel from spending time with friends and forming new connections through these games is something really special to me. I believe that these shared moments can bring us closer together, creating a sense of belonging that we all seek.

I’m so glad to share my experience participating in a weekly board games group alongside Dez, which eventually inspired us to start a board games club for kids through Youth Works called “Throne of Games.” Over the past three years, it has been wonderful to see kids of all ages come together to socialize and enjoy playing games.
We also helped establish the pop-up Board Game Café Night at Johnny’s Happy Place, which has become such a fantastic success! From this journey, I’ve made countless friends and am now involved in two different board game groups. Additionally, I participate in Meeples Monthly in Rushden, another great community of people who share a love for games.
The connections I’ve formed here are truly special, and I’ve built lifelong friendships. The kindness and support from everyone in this community have been incredible, especially when I organized a 24-hour board game event. The encouragement I received was overwhelming and heartwarming. I’m now excited to try for a 36-hour event next, and I’m already getting so much support for it. It’s amazing how much we can achieve together as a community!
I’m currently training to become an occupational therapist because I truly want to make a difference in the lives of others. I believe that the skills I’m learning will empower me to support those in need and help us realize our dream of using our board games as a resource for uplifting and assisting others.
