MEEPLES is live

Meeples is a calm, friendly and welcoming club designed especially for children aged 8-16. Over six sessions, your child will have the chance to play a variety of modern board & card games as well as take part in craft activities linked to the theme. Sessions will be tailored to the group’s interests and be flexible around their needs.

Your child will be developing essential skills, including problem-solving, communication and creativity whilst playing games and building relationships and most importantly, having lots of fun! Boards of Kettering CIC is a member of the Skills Builder Partnership, which supports our aim of ‘improving skills and wellbeing through play’.

We understand SEND and sensory needs will mean some kids may struggle to engage with the group activities at times. We will always have alternative activities and safe space for them to regulate if needed.

Meeples will run on 6 consecutive Mondays
November 3/10/17/24, December 1/8

Six children (maximum) per group

Two groups:
Group A 10.30am-12pm
Group B 12.30-2pm

The club is held in Café Oak, Geddington (NN14 1AZ). There is usually plenty of street parking available.

As an added bonus, every child is also invited to a Family Games Café session on Monday, 15th December 10am-1pm, where the whole family is welcome to come and share the fun (more details will follow).

The cost is just £30 per child for all six sessions, thanks to part-funding from the Midcounties Co-op Doing Good Together Fund and Café Oak for the use of their space. Sibling discount is £55 for two children booked onto the same session. Water and squash will be provided, and children are welcome to bring a snack if they would like (no nuts please).

Parents are welcome to stay during the sessions if absolutely necessary, but please encourage your child to be independent within the group if possible. We do have indoor & outdoor space available for you to use if you would like to stay.

Improving skills and well-being through play

Boards of Kettering is a Community Interest Company formed to celebrate the joy of playing modern board games.

Our team recognised the value of using board games in an educational setting so the next stage of our journey is to share our love of board games (while improving useful skills and well-being) to young people and adults in schools, youth clubs, the home-education community and other settings.

The Skills Builder Universal Framework

We are utilising the nationally recognised Skills Builder Partnership Universal Framework.

Polly used the Framework extensively in a previous role and knows the impact and outcomes that Skills Builder creates.

We are grateful to the Midcounties Co-op Doing Good Together Fund for our first grant funding to help run this programme.
